May 8, 2024Call for Members: Contract Staff Working Group
Staff with temporary appointments (“contract staff”) now make up 1/5 of the UWSA membership and we recognize that we need to learn more about the unique needs of these members.

The UWSA Operations Team (the three employees and presidents) is creating a Contract Staff Working Group to identify ways in which the UWSA can improve opportunities and services for contract staff within the UWSA and help staff in temporary appointments feel safe, empowered to grow, and able to thrive at work.
Apr. 14, 2024Call for Members: Staff Excellence Fund Committee
The UWSA Appointments Committee is calling for two members to join the selection committee for the Staff Excellence Fund.

The Staff Excellence Fund (SEF) is managed by the Provost's Advisory Committee on Staff Compensation (PACSC). PACSC has delegated responsibility to the UWSA to bring forward proposals from staff for two portions of this fund: Engagement and Leadership Development, and Healthy Workplace Initiatives.

The UWSA has established the SEF committee to generate, review, and recommend for approval staff-generated proposals for SEF funding that are in alignment with the goals of the Staff Excellence Fund by engaging UWSA members and supporting their proposal efforts.

If you have not read the full announcement on the website, or the FAQ, we encourage you to do that as it may answer some of the questions you undoubtedly have. UWSA is looking forward to hosting Meaghan Ross (she) from Organizational and Human Development on May 10 and 24 where she’ll facilitate two custom workshops for UWSA volunteers and employees in which we will learn how to plan, run and participate in effective meetings – both within UWSA, and as UWSA representatives on committees working across the University.
